What Is NLP?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a model of the structure of subjective experience that provides a conceptual frame for understanding thought processes. These skills facilitate effective communication, learning and change. Because it is sensory-based, it is possible to test and verify the results of NLP procedures.

In the early 1970's, John Grinder and Richard Bandler set out to discover what accounted for the high therapeutic success rates of three exceptional communicators, Fritz Perls, Milton Erickson and Virginia Satir. They modeled these and other effective communicators to find out how they influenced people and facilitated behavioral change.

Their work isolated the key components of good people skills. NLP is used in business, training, sales, law, counseling and consulting - any field in which interpersonal understanding is vital.

John Grinder, Ph.D. - Co-Founder of NLP

"Susan Davis (achieves) a congruity which provides a behavioral model as well as an explication of the material. I recommend (her) for your consideration."

What You Will Learn

Principles of effective thinking, so important for a fast paced, diverse society, including:
"Whether you are on a personal journey to emotional health, or a professional helping another, NLP offers an exciting pathway to (your) goal. Approached with curiosity, an openness to new ideas and a willingness to experience life fully, NLP gives a deceptively simple impetus to change. The NLP Resource Center of the Family Therapy Institute offers a safe, supportive place to learn and effect emotional change." - Sharon Young, RN

What Others Have To Say

"I believe I understand myself, my employees, my spouse, much, much better." - Joseph M. Fox, Chairman, Template Software

"While I came here 'well-padded' with reference to personal organizational development concepts, this training is most effective in moving with these concepts, putting them in action. Also, NLP enables me to take better care of myself. I thank you with all my heart!" - Michelle D., Executive, International Development Bank

Who Should Study NLP?

The techniques of NLP are now used in widely diverse settings. Therapists and counselors report that NLP enhances and supplements their approaches to helping others. Physicians say NLP increases compliance and can reduce anxiety and pain in patients. Trainers and speakers use NLP to gain rapport and choose the most effective presentation strategies to facilitate learning and deliver their message with impact. Educators have consistently found value in attending this training.

NLP has direct application in the business world. Major corporations are using NLP in hiring to match jobs with applicants and to model their most productive workers to increase overall productivity.

Regardless of your background you will find that NLP training can have significant benefits for your professional and personal growth.

CERTIFICATION EVALUATION

Practitioner certification requires some facility with the very specific skills and pre-suppositions of NLP. Mastery of a vast range of other valuable skills is not relevant to Certification, though it may be very relevant to the rest of life. While we make every effort to assess and task people throughout the training, there are always those whose skills have not been sufficiently observed by the trainers during the course or those who reveal the need for continued tasking in certain specific areas. We will, therefore, request some further demonstration of certain skills before Practitioner Certification is granted. Supervised study group round-robins will be available on April 18th for this purpose and attendance is required for those requesting Certification and optional for those interested in a Certificate of Attendance. There will be a $50 fee for the process of evaluation and feedback involved in consideration of Practitioner Certification.
